Builders' credit crunch song makes national radio

By Neil Gerrard

A new single by a band of construction workers which captures the fear of the downturn in the sector has found its way on to national radio.

Credit Crunch, a jokey song by London band Canary Wolf includes the lyrics: "Forget climate change, the price of petrol and starvation, there's a new fear sweeping the nation."

The band met while working on the construction of the Barclays and Citigroup towers in Canary Wharf.

Quoted in the Evening Standard, lead singer Richard Bray said: "Everyone is worried and those of us in construction don't know where the next job is coming from.

"We're hoping we might release the single and it would be ironic if we made money out of the credit crunch."

The song can be heard at the band's MySpace page.
