Construction looks likely to have yet another new government minister to look after the industry, as speculation mounted that incumbent Shriti Vadera will be moved as a result of the Cabinet reshuffle.
Former UBS banker Vadera, currently the Parliamentary under Secretary of State for the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR), has become Minister for Business and Competitiveness.
It is thought unlikely she will keep construction in her new brief.
Vadera is a close ally of Gordon Brown, having served as his adviser during his time as Chancellor of the Exchequer.
The move would leave construction searching for its eighth minister since 2001.
Vadera's predecessor, Stephen Timms, lasted just six months in the job after he was moved to the Department for Work and Pensions, following Peter Hain's resignation.
Vadera was appointed to the role in January.
