Wrekin dives in and saves 50 window jobs

Watson Dallas, a Scottish window manufacturer, enjoyed a rise in sales for August – just weeks after being bought out of receivership by Wrekin Construction with the saving of over 50 jobs.

Wrekin paid £300,000 for Watson and took on all its debts.

Derek Hoggan, general director of Watson, said that orders had risen sharply at a difficult time in the market given that build rates are down.

Wrekin joint managing director Peter Greenwood says the purchase is a natural fit for Wrekin Construction.

“We took on all the employees,” said Greenwood. “They hadn’t been paid for the past two weeks so we put that right.”

Watson Dallas manufactures windows for the new build sector, supplying all the large Scottish housebuilders.

The company was part of the Abbott group of companies, until the parent group went into receivership earlier this year.
