Ian Pearson confimed as construction minister

The Department for Business Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) has confirmed that Ian Pearson is to be the new construction minister.

Pearson, who is the Economic and Business minister will take responsibility for construction alongside nine other industry sectors.

He replaces Baroness Shriti Vadera who has been promoted to Minister for Business and Competitiveness.

Pearson is the eighth minister in charge of construction since 2001.

He will be part of Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform Peter Mandleson's ministerial team.
