Staffordshire-based piling specialist Roger Bullivant has confirmed that it is to make an unspecified number of its workforce redundant.
The cuts are expected to be made in all departments at the £120m-a-year turnover company.
Roger Bullivant director John Patch said: “The continuing global downward trend has seen housebuilding come to a virtual standstill and the market is showing no signs of improvement.
"As a result, we have now had to make the very difficult decision to commence on another period of consultation with employees around our UK-wide business network.
“Redundancies are only ever a last resort and these consultations aim to investigate ways of avoiding further job losses.”
The news came as it emerged that Bullivant's former subsidiary Roger Bullivant (Ireland) has gone into administration with the loss of 19 jobs.
