Four firms are chasing a £30m education-sector deal in Birmingham.

The formation for the Lancaster Gateway project in the city centre is Ocon Construction, John Sisk, Leadbitter and BAM Construction.

The modular construction scheme, for Ely Property Group, comprises 734 units of student accommodation housed in a 20-storey tower block.

Work on site starts next year for completion by August 2010.

The project is a design and build, two-stage tender exercise.
