Lagan has picked-up a trio of UK airport improvement jobs worth £9 million.

The three contracts will be carried out at Heathrow’s T5, Bournemouth International Airport and at Newquay in Cornwall where an existing military airfield is being converted into a new commercial airport.

At Heathrow Lagan has been commissioned by main contractor Ferrovial Agroman to deliver the £1.2 million T5C Phase 2, stands 561 and 562, for BAA.

Work involves initial site establishment, dig out and disposal of a temporary road to the north of stand 561, installation of a range of services and the placement of Wet Lean and Pavement Quality Concrete. The project is due for completion in November.

At Newquay Lagan will undertake a series of transition works, runway remedials and taxiway widening valued at £4.5 million for main contractor Mansell Construction Services on behalf of Cornwall County Council.

At Bournemouth Airport the contractor will deliver £3.3 million worth of airside works for Warings Group for the construction of new aircraft stands on both the east and west apron and a taxiway overlay.

David Jeffs, managing director of Lagan Construction said: “Our international expertise and reputation in the airports sector is creating many opportunities in the UK and we look forward to continuing to establish our presence in this key market.”
