Developers Merepark and Ballymore have been given the green light to expand an historic Liverpool building into a four-star hotel.
In a joint venture, the two firms will expand the Grade II listed Watson building in Renshaw Street into a former paint shop to provide a 174-room luxury hotel.
Four neighbouring buildings will be demolished and an 11-storey tower added to make way for the 16,000m2 development.
The developers expect to start work on the £110m first phase of the Central Village regeneration project, which will include construction of two towers and 440 apartments, within months.
A start date for the hotel project has not been released.
