The Royal College of Art has won approval to build a £33m campus at Battersea.
Designed by Haworth Tompkins, the new facility will accommodate the college’s fine art facilities, allowing the Kensington campus to expand.
According to the Financial Times, it will be located behind architect Lord Foster’s offices and feature a “Machine Hall” – a top-lit industrial space.
The first stage, to incorporate painting studios, is to be completed by 2011, with the second stage due by 2013.
