Laing O’Rourke has acquired precast concrete manufacturer Bison, following the firm's entry into administrative receivership earlier today (Wednesday).

Greg Ward, Laing O’Rourke’s global head of manufacturing, said “This [Bison] was a great business but it has been swept away by the economic downturn, like so many others in this industry."

However, it looks certain that there will be job losses at Bison, though Ward said he expected “a majority” of current employees to be retained.

Bison has three factories in Swadlincote, Derbyshire, Uddingston, Scotland, and Leeds, and employees 450 people.
