Taylor Wimpey’s plans to build 450 homes on the site of the former Stradey Park in Llanelli, Wales, could be called in by the Welsh Assembly.
Ministers have issued a temporary notice to stop the council granting planning permission while a decision is made on whether to call the scheme in.
The redevelopment of the rugby ground has been opposed by many locals and outline plans for the development were called in back in 2006.
A decision to call in Taylor Wimpey’s detailed plans would delay the development and could see a third public inquiry called, reported the BBC.
Previous concerns over the scheme include flooding risks, loss of green and open space, traffic impact and housing and land supply.
