Tottenham Hotspur Football Club has announced plans to build a new 60,000-capacity stadium near its White Hart Lane ground.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy said: "With a waiting list for season tickets of over 22,000 and club membership levels of over 70,000, our need for an increased capacity stadium has been clear for all to see for some time."

He added that other sites were considered for the Northumberland Development Project but it was decided that the club's current location was the most suitable.

The development will also include a club museum, restaurant, homes, shops and community buildings.

"I am delighted that we have now finally agreed upon a solution to the club's future stadium requirements and we must now remain focused on taking the stadium development project through the various stages of consultation and on to planning," Levy said.
