Greyhound Plant Services is bucking the current downturn with the purchase of 34 items of Volvo earthmoving heavy equipment.
The company, from Knockin, Shropshire, has taken 10 of the Swedish firm's A40E articulated dump trucks, 12 of the smaller A25Es, two EW140C wheeled excavators, two reduced swing ECR235C crawler excavators and eight soil compactors.
Although a long time Volvo customer, this is the first time Greyhound has bought Volvo branded soil compactors, taking four each of the SD160DX and the SD122DX.
The machines have recently joined the Volvo line-up following the firm's acquisition of the Ingersoll-Rand road construction portfolio.
"This was a change in direction for us as we've normally opted for alternative makes of roller," says Greyhound's managing director Will Jones.
"We took the Volvo for a thorough evaluation and were extremely impressed with its performance and overall quality, so it made sense to include our requirements into the overall deal. We have equipment operating on projects all around the country and we can be confident we are never far away from a Volvo engineer or support centre."
