By John Leitch

Inspectors from the European Union Competition Authority have been searching through Cemex’s  offices in the UK and Germany.

It is part of an ongoing EU investigation into cartels in the European cement industry.

Cemex said that it is “fully cooperating with the authorities and is providing all requested information and producing the requested testimonies”.

Lafarge has confirmed it also under scrutiny by the EU. The cement giant was one of several companies fined during a probe into the European cement industry in 1994.
