Groundforce star Tommy Walsh has fallen victim to the property slump and faces losing £80,000 on an eco-home he built for a Discovery Channel television show.

The celebrity DIY builder has tried to sell the Cambridgeshire home for £180,000 but has finally put it up for auction with a reserve of just £100,000.

The two-bedroom home in March was built as part of a challenge to build an eco-friendly home on a £60,000 block of land, for £60,000 in 60 days.

Chronicled on Tommy Walsh’s Eco House, the home was judged the most energy-efficient built in the Fenland district.

On his website tommyshouse.co.uk, he said: “This house plus land and special features cost approximately £170,000 to build so grab a bargain.”

The home will go under the hammer on 17 November at Strettons Edwin Evans in London.
