Stewart Milne consortium unveils £25m Scottish regeneration plan

A new development consortium led by Stewart Milne Group has unveiled a £25m plan to regenerate the centre of Scotland’s Forres.

The consortium Redco Milne is a joint venture with Aberdeen-based developers Redco Assets and has proposed building a new football ground in the town.

The redevelopment will focus on the derelict site of the former Tesco supermarket in the town and the Forres Mechanics Football Club ground at Mosset Park.

The masterplan includes plans for a new supermarket, a garden centre, a 60-bed hotel and a restaurant and business centre.

Stewart Milne managing director Malcolm Deans told the Scotsman the intention was to stop shoppers flocking to Elgin and Inverness to do business.

“Our vision is to extend and reinforce Forres town centre as a place where local people want to stay and do their shopping,” he said.

The consortium is planning a public exhibition of its plans at the end of the month and expects to make a planning application next year.
