Workers who maintain the electricity supply after hours on the Tube have called two strikes in a row over pay.
The Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union said its members at EDF Energy Powerlink will walk off the job for 36 hours on Sunday night and on 7 December.
RMT general secretary Bob Crow said the workers were seeking pay parity with their day colleagues who received a £3,000 pay rise in exchange for flexibility in signing on and off.
“Shift testers have also displayed flexibility and have seen their work-life balance turned upside down by the change from 10-hour days and 14-hour nights to a 12-hour shift system,” he said.
Transport for London said it did not expect the strike to affect services.
The shift testers are responsible for finding and fixing faults on the Underground’s substations and for maintaining power supply.
