Electrical specialist T Clarke is hoping to grab a brace of massive M&E packages at Westfield’s £1.5bn Stratford City development and the Olympic Stadium next door.
CJ understands Clarke is heading the chase for the electrical contract for the Sir Robert McAlpine-led Team Stadium group building the main London 2012 arena.
Imtech has won the air conditioning services job at the stadium and is also looking to pick up work at Stratford City.
A raft of trade specialists is jockeying for work on Westfield’s latest shopping centre. The front-runners consist of companies that worked with the developer on its recent White City scheme.
A source close to the project said: “The job is on a tight deadline with a completion date of March 2011, so it makes sense for Westfield to use the firms that were successful at White City.”
Concrete frame contractor PC Harrington is on site working on a package estimated to be worth £100m, while Severfield Rowen is installing around 40,000 tonnes of steel.
Both Clarke and Imtech worked at White City. The source said: “They are very keen to do the Stratford deal and it would mean a lot of work in the area for both firms with the stadium contract just over the road.”
Westfield Stratford City will serve as the main gateway to the Olympic Park and enabling works have just begun on the connecting bridge.
Steelwork for the anchor John Lewis store has been completed and the first concrete lift core for the flagship Marks & Spencer department store is now in place.
