Balfour Beatty wins £20m wind farm job

By Neil Gerrard

Balfour Beatty Utility Solutions has won two £20m wind farm contracts for ScottishPower Energy Networks.

The first project will see Balfour Beatty connect the Clyde Windfarm into the transmission network over a 22-month period starting in March.

The work will include the installation of two 275kV single circuit cable connections to connect the wind farm to the Elvanfoot Substation in South Lanarkshire.

The second will see the connection of the Crystal Rig windfarm to the 400kV overhead line transmission network over a six month period, starting in May.

Connecting the 62.5MW plant to the network south of Dunbar will involve the installation of a new junction tower and an optical path ground wire along 57km of the transmission line route from the Smeaton 400kV substation to Torness substation.
