Laing O’Rourke has suffered a second fatal accident on one of its projects in a month after a 38-year-old man was killed at a sewage treatment works.

The unnamed man is believed to have died in a fall at the Knostrop plant in Knowsthorpe Lane, Leeds, while working for Yorkshire Water.

A Laing O’Rourke spokesman said: "We can confirm that, on the 13 November there was an incident at a Laing O’Rourke project site at Knostrop, near Leeds that resulted in the fatality of a member of Laing O’Rourke’s supply chain.

"Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased and with our people at the site during this tragic time.

"Police and the Health and Safety Executive are continuing investigations and it would be inappropriate to comment any further until that investigation is concluded."
