Tenders for the main concrete core package for two new towers at Canary Wharf will be issued early next year.
Designers at Canary Wharf Contractors are currently revising plans for the buildings’ basements ahead of the tender race.
Finance giant JP Morgan has paid £237m for the land at Riverside South where Canary Wharf Contractors is overseeing preparation work on a 42-storey and 36-storey tower.
Laing O’Rourke is expected to be one of the favourites to win the concrete core package.
Actual construction will start when JP Morgan gives the green light.
If the building does not go ahead JP Morgan will owe the Canary Wharf Group £76m.
