Morgan Sindall is expected to start work next year on one of the largest-ever regeneration schemes in the South West.

The £350m deal is aimed at revamping Swindon's town centre and the project is scheduled to take 10 years to complete.

The news follows the signing of an agreement between Muse Developments, Morgan Sindall's urban regeneration business, and a public sector consortium featuring English Partnerships, South West of England Regional Development Agency and Swindon Borough Council.

The Union Square flagship scheme will deliver up to 160,000m2 of office space and homes.

Also planned are upgraded leisure facilities, a new hotel, shops, restaurants and cafes.

The project will in addition deliver an upgraded bus interchange, new facilities for the local Primary Care Trust, a new multi-storey car park and open public spaces.
