Three firms have emerged as the front runners for Hull City Council’s £400m Building Schools for the Future (BSF) programme.

The three firms are Balfour Beatty Capital; Esteem (Morgan Sindall Investments; Robertson's Capital Projects; Sewell Group); and Vinci Investments.

The scheme involves the delivery of 19 schools, including five PFI schools, seven new build schemes and 12 design and build projects.

A preferred bidder will be selected by December 2009 with work expected to start on the first three schools in the programme in March 2010.

David Martin, Hull’s BSF project director, said: "We are absolutely delighted to have such high profile and experienced organisations willing and able to work on this huge, once-in-a-lifetime transformational programme in Hull."
