Carillion has won its first primary school contract under the £7bn Primary Capital Programme.
The contractor will build the £13m Southwark Primary School in Bulwell Lane, Old Basford, for Nottingham City Council.
The Council was selected of one of 23 local authorities chosen to pioneer the new programme alongside the Department for Children Schools and Families. The funding for the programme was announced in November 2008.
The new school is being procured through the Local Education Partnership (LEP), Inspiredspaces, which comprises Nottingham City Council, Carillion, and Partnerships for Schools.
Carillion chief executive John McDonough said: "We are delighted to have been selected for this pathfinder project under the government's Primary Capital Programme, which is leading the way in providing first-class facilities for primary education in Nottingham."
