Jarvis Group upbeat as it wins work worth £12m

Harpenden-based Jarvis Group has bagged projects worth £12m in the south Midlands and South East, as it fights to beat the downturn.

The work includes a £3m sports centre in north London, a £2.5m education job at a school in Hertfordshire, and another £2m project at a school in Bedfordshire.

It has also secured work in the healthcare sector in north London worth around £1.5m, with the rest of the work has to come from private clients.

Commenting on the new work, Steve Cook, Jarvis Contracting’s Managing Director, said: “It is a little early, in the current climate, to see how the industry will fare over the next year, but I am very pleased to say that we appear to be bucking the trend in the downturn.

“The company will need to work hard to secure new work throughout 2009, which we expect to be a very difficult year.”
