Kubota upgrades mini excavator with adjustable track gauge

By Colin Sowman

Kubota has introduced the U17-3, a 1.65t zero tail-swing mini excavator, which replaces its existing U15-3.

A key change is the adjustable track gauge, which can be retracted to 990mm to pass through narrow doorways (or when operating in tight work areas) and expanded to 1.24m for maximum stability in normal operation. Twin dozer blade extensions are standard, as is Kubota's unique-key security system and its three-year warranty.

The U17-3 generates 15.2kN of digging force at the bucket and has 3.9m of ground-level reach with a maximum digging depth of 2.31m.

A double-opening bonnet provides access to the engine, air cleaner and water separator. Two-piece hoses to the dozer and boom cylinders are designed to reduce replacement time.

New short-pitched rubber tracks help minimise vibration during travel, while inside the cab Kubota's Intelligent Control System warns operators when routine maintenance is due.
