By Neil Gerrard

Bam has won the first NHS Frameworks Scotland project to build a £120m hospital.

The scheme will see the redevelopment of Dumfries Royal Infirmary Hospital for NHS Dumfries and Galloway. The hospital will be the first in Scotland to feature 100% single bedroom accommodation. It will also include a newbuild 200-bed wing.

Construction work is due to begin onsite in April 2010 with completion anticipated for April 2013.

BAM will collaborate with architects Nightingale Associates and  health planner Tribal consulting on the project. The project manager is Turnder & Townsend.

The £1bn Frameworks Scotland contract was launched in November. The five framework contractors, as revealed by CJ in October last year, are Bam Construction, Interserve, Laing O’Rourke, Morrison Construction and Robertson/Dawn. The framework is modelled on the NHS ProCure21 initiative and runs for four years.
