A man arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following the death of a construction worker in east London was re-bailed today until early February.

Harold Sheridan, 58, from Luton died at the Skanska / GrantRail site in December when he was hit on the head by a digger bucket.

A 60-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter following the incident on the £211m Docklands Light Railway extension site in Stratford. He was released on bail and returned to meet with detectives today.

British Transport Police are believed to be focusing on the excavator’s semi-automatic quick hitch in their investigations.

A police spokesman said: “The man who was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter in connection with the death of a man who was crushed by machinery at West Ham station has been re-bailed until early February.”
