Balfour Beatty is set to provide pre-construction advice and construction services on the £1.5bn Heathrow East project, in a contract worth up to £750m.
The company will realign the taxiways and new aircraft stands in the areas to the east of Terminals 1 and 2. It will also work on connecting the new terminal to the rest of the airport.
Balfour is currently working on the design, management and construction of the first phase of Heathrow East. It is scheduled for completion in 2009. The aircraft stands are scheduled to be operational in 2010.
The contractor has signed a 10-year framework agreement to assist BAA in delivering its £6.6bn capital programme. The framework covers Heathrow East and smaller projects including alterations, refurbishment and building work at Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Southampton, Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Balfour Beatty chief executive Ian Tyler said: "We are delighted to be continuing our support to BAA on the Eastern Campus Development Programme at Heathrow. Our track record in delivering capital projects for BAA, including the rail systems element of Terminal 5, along with the strong business relationship forged between us, have been instrumental in completing this important agreement."
