Voters have backed plans for job-creation by increasing spending in public construction work, according to the latest Guardian/ICM poll.
While plans for construction fared well in terms of perception from those polled, with 85% in favour of public sector spending, the government fared less well in its economic strategy.
Only 31% thought that its initiatives, including bank bail-outs, would improve the situation with 65% saying that it would achieve nothing or make things worse.
Overall the results are bad news for Labour, with support for the Conservative up six points on last month.
