Galliford Try has been awarded a £47m contract by Group 4 Securicor.
The deal involves work at Parc Prison in Bridgend - the only private prison in Wales. Galliford will develop and refurbish new and existing facilities.
The Category B prison will expand by the creation of a new accommodation block together with extensions and conversions to existing buildings on the site.
Work on site will start in May 2009 and completion is set for early 2011.
Greg Fitzgerald, chief executive of Galliford, commented that the award “adds to the group's workload in the public and regulated sectors."
The scheme has been designed to comply with the Building Research Establishment BREEAM "Excellent" environmental rating.
