Sodexo replaces Trillium on £12bn MoD Training PFI

By Carol Millett

Facilities management firm, Sodexo, has been confirmed as the new equity partner in Metrix, the consortium that will deliver the £12bn privately financed Defence Technical Academy project (DTA) in South Wales.

The 30 year deal, tipped by contractjournal.com earlier this month, will see Sodexo replacing Trillium. Trillium pulled out of the consortium last year, citing its concern at rising bid costs on the project. Sodexo will provide 50% of the equity for what is the UK’s largest PFI. The firm has a long track record in PFI and is already the fm partner in the Metrix consortium.

The consortium also includes Laing O’Rourke as construction partner. Laing O’Rourke will build the £1bn Defence Technical Academy. The construction package is expected to deliver 1500 jobs. Work will start in the autumn of 2010 and the Academy is expected to open in Spring 2014.
