Galliford Try has won a £100m conversion project at St Pancras, London.

The work will be done for St Pancras Chambers Investments which is part of the Manhattan Loft Corporation.

Work involves the restoration of the St Pancras Chambers to create 67 residential apartments, a £10m penthouse and a 244-bedroom five-star Marriott hotel.

The Grade I listed chambers were built between 1868 and 1876 as a ‘Gothic revival’ styled hotel known as the Midland Grand.

Originally it boasted between 500-600 rooms.

Galliford will convert some of the area into modern residential accommodation. It will also restore the building's interior to its former Victorian glory.

Contracts are expected to be signed by March. A project completion date has been agreed for the end of 2010.

Greg Fitzgerald, Chief Executive of Galliford Try, commented: “We look forward to working with the Manhattan Loft Corporation to return this beautiful building to its former condition".
