London Underground managing director Tim O'Toole quit the post last night after six years.

O'Toole said it was "time to go home" with his family to the US.

London Mayor Boris Johnson said: "I fully understand Tim's desire to return home after six years serving London. During that time he has led from the front and made huge progress in delivering an improved tube after decades of under-investment."
