Glasgow City Council is considering a Low Emission Zone (LEZ) in order to combat high pollution levels in the city centre, around Parkhead Cross and the Byres Road/Dumbarton Road area.
Proposed measures mainly deal with buses and taxis, but include targeting dust and smoke emissions from construction sites and could include the banning of bonfires on construction and demolition sites within the LEZ.
While the proposals see increased emissions-testing and emission standards for buses and taxis, there are currently no proposals to include emission control devices such as diesel particulate filters on construction plant.
