The media centre for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games will create just under 900,000ft2 of green business and employment space in legacy.

The MPC will include 29,000m2 of green office space, including a 2,500m2 'brown roof' of gravel and moss to encourage invertebrates and 60% of non-drinking water to be collected from across the Olympic Park.

A planning application for the IBC/MPC has been submitted this week.  The site has been cleared and the appointed contractor Carillion is preparing to start construction this spring.

Following a cash-injection from the Olympic contingency-fund and cost reductions of £25m announced in January, the total public funding for the project will be £355m which will all be met from the ODA budget.
