Southdale Group has won a £20m contract to redevelop 196 homes for Tees Valley Housing Association across three sites in York.
The work involves the demolition of 100 existing council-owned ‘prefab’ bungalows for elderly people, replacing them with 60 new bungalows, plus 41 two-bedroomed apartments, 56 mews houses, 39 apartments and a range of communal facilities.
It is Halifax-based Southdale's biggest contract win to date. The contractor specialises in social housing.
Work has already started on the first phase of demolition and redevelopment.
