Interserve has been chosen to carry out a £280m Building Schools for the Future scheme in the West Midlands.
The firm is part of the E4L team which will revamp 20 schools over the next 10 years for Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council.
The programme will operate in several waves and will include both new construction and refurbishment of existing facilities.
Some projects will be financed using the Private Finance Initiative, where Interserve will construct the schools and provide FM services for 25 years.
Others will be procured through a conventional design and build route. The total construction value is estimated at £240m, of which £65m will be in Wave 1. FM value in Wave 1 schools will be approximately £40m.
Interserve will begin work this summer at Rowley Regis Learning Campus and Smethwick Learning Campus, with the buildings due to open in 2011.
