Galliford Try wins £43m school project in Rutland

Galliford Try has been awarded a £43m school and development project by Rutland County Council.

The ‘Big Build’ scheme at Oakham in Rutland calls for both construction and house building skills – elements of the work include a £23m construction project for a 900 student school and community facilities, as well as the acquisition and development of a residential site for 120 homes, both for affordable housing and open market sale.

The development element of the latter runs to £20m.

Construction commences on site in spring 2009.

The hand-over of the housing site for the commencement of development should take place in 2011.

Greg Fitzgerald, chief executive, said: “This project is an example of how Galliford Try can generate best value for its clients by using both its contracting and house building skills to deliver a single source solution.”
