By Janie Stamford

Birse Civils has won a £6.6m contract by the Highways Agency to extend the Prince of Wales railway bridge, near Windsor.

The ECI (early contractor involvement) deal involves replacing the parapets, extending the deck with precast concrete units and constructing a new hard shoulder to improve safety in the area.

The scheme forms part of Birse Civils' South East Structures framework for the Highways Agency.
