Galliford Try has won two academy projects in the secondary education sector worth a total of £38m.

The first deal, with a value of £23m, is to build the new City of London Academy in Islington for the trustees of the academy and the Department of Children, Schools and Families (DCSF).

The former Islington Green School will be demolished and a new school with sports facilities constructed. Work is set for completion in October 2011.

The second contract is a £15m deal to build new teaching, sports and administration facilities at the Wren Academy in London for the London Diocesan Board for Schools.

Completion of the new building for the academy in North Finchley is set for March 2010.

Greg Fitzgerald, Galliford Try chief executive said: "Galliford Try is delighted to build on its track record in the education sector with the award of these projects. These contracts follow our recently completed mulit-school Private Finance Initiative projects and maintain our strength in this important market."
