RD Health, a consortium involving Roberston Construction and Dawn Construction, has been selected as the principal supply chain partner to develop the £100m Emergency Care Centre at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Robertson Construction Group will be the principal supply chain member and will work with the design team to develop the full business case for a new emergency unit which will replace the existing A&E department on the hospital's Foresterhill campus.

The scheme includes a clinical assessment area which will hold 40 patients, and new clinical wards in the floors above the emergency care centre which will provide a further 179 inpatient beds.

The centre is set to open in 2011.

Robertson executive chairman Bill Robertson said: "We are delighted to be part of Frameworks Scotland and this project with NHS Grampian  signifies our first major award through the initiative.

"We very much look forward to working closely with our project partners and our client NHS Grampian to develop this centre which will modernise the provision of acute healthcare services for the local area."
