May Gurney is to build a new 'green' headquarters on the outskirts of Norwich, featuring solar hot-water panels, sun pipes, solar shading and water-saving technology.
The site is on a flood plain so part of the new HQ will be on stilts, to "guard against the future effects of climate change". A raised access road and footpath will also be built.
A planning application has been submitted to South Norfolk Council. If approved, May Gurney expects to move into the 34,000sq ft building within two years.
The new HQ will be the first on a wider business park being developed on the site, according to the Eastern Daily Press.
Ian Findlater, group business development director at May Gurney, said: "Our current offices are dated, poorly insulated, inefficient and certainly don't reflect May Gurney's modern approach to sustainability.
"Our employees are very excited about the prospect of working in a landmark, environmentally cutting-edge building like this."
