Constructionline spends £1m on relaunch

Constructionline - the UK's largest register of pre-qualified contractors - has spent £1m as part of a relaunch of its online pre qualification questionnaire (PQQ) system.

The new system will offer a free online tender advertising system to contractors, in a bid to simplify procurement for SMEs.

It will also take information about suppliers' financial health from Experian to help allay client's feats over the financial health of individual contractors amid the recession

And Constructionline's website has been given a new look in a bid to make it easier to use, following market research with 20 user groups and over 400 users.

Speaking at the launch, Constructionline sales and marketing director Philip Prince said that duplication of PQQs is a major cost to the public sector and contractors in terms of administration and man hours.

It is hoped that Constructionline will help to make £500m of savings across the industry, as part of the government's £9bn annual efficiency savings target by reducing that duplication.

Meanwhile, speaking shortly before the launch Sir Michael Latham said: "With billions of pounds of public money pledged to major construction projects and the need to increase efficiency savings on government spending adopting a greater urgency, Constructionline plays an instrumental role in driving best practice."
