Balfour Beatty has confirmed that it is looking to make a total of 74 redundancies.
A spokeswoman said that the company's Balfour Kilpatrick division was looking to cut 60 jobs in the North West as a number of major projects including a hospital and a school came to an end.
Balfour Beatty's northern construction arm is in the process of cutting 14 posts as part of a rolling programme which began at the start of the year and is set to end in May. The cuts come as Balfour's work on the Knowsley BSF project came to a close.
She added that Balfour would place people whose jobs were at risk in other parts of the business where possible, and denied that the redundancies were part of a wider restructuring programme.
