Sir Robert McAlpine has started work on the internal fit-out of the Olympic Stadium, one year after the start of construction.

The work is being carried out in the space below the podium level, which will be split into 700 spaces including eight changing rooms and a 82 metre indoor warm-up track in the West Stand.

Further fit-out work will include ventilation ducts, drainage pipes, internal walls, cabling and plasterboard.

Olympic Delivery Authority Chairmain John Armitt said: “The stadium is on schedule to host the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Games in just over three years time and become a high quality facility in legacy for athletics and other sports.”
