Timber frame manufacturer Kingspan Off-site has been fined for polluting the River Rhymney in Blaenau Gwent, Wales.
Abertillery Magistrates’ Court heard that the firm's Tredegar plant had polluted the river with the chemical Permethrin through airborne sawdust and water draining from treated timber stored on the site.
Kingspan was ordered to pay a total of £6,854.37, including costs.
The court decision followed a lengthy investigation by the Environment Agency.
In June 2008, Kingspan's Tredegar plant was closed with the loss of 59 jobs,
