A director from German steel manufacturer ThyssenKrupp was one of the passengers on the Air France flight from Rio de Janiero to Paris which disappeared over the Atlantic Ocean yesterday.
Erich Heine is chairman of Companhia Siderurgica do Atlantico and a member of ThyssenKrupp’s executive board.
CSA, a £3.9bn joint venture between ThyssenKrupp and Brazilian mining company Vale, is set to start production in Brazil this December.
A spokesman for ThyssenKrupp confirmed Heine was on the missing flight, though a full passenger list has not yet been disclosed.
ThyseenKrupp is supplying the cladding on the Heron Tower in the City of London.
