Top 5 construction tenders - 4 June 2009

This week's top five construction tenders include a £750m framework in the north east for a variety of clients, the £150m redevelopment of Watford town centre and a £20m highways framework in the west midlands. Manchester: Various works

  • Value: £250m-£750m
  • North West Construction Hub (the trading name for Manchester City Council) is advertising for a framework of contractors to deliver work in two tiers: above £10m and below £10m. The work includes demolition, development, refurbishment and remodelling over the four years of the contract. Users of the framework include local authorities, emergency services, NHS organisations and education institutions in Cumbria, Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire.

Watford: Mixed use construction

  • Value: £50m-£150m
  • Watford Borough Council wants to redevelop and extend Charter Place in Watford town centre and the surrounding area. It is looking for a mixed use but retail led development which includes refurbishment of the existing enclosed and open spaces.
  • Deadline: 21 July

Essex: Redevelopment

  • Value: £50m
  • Up to three contracts are to be awarded by Planned Lifecycle works for the planned maintenance work in the London Borough of Waltham Forest and the outer borough areas of Epping, Billericay and Wickford. The work, which will take place over four years, includes electrical, mechanical and structural work on existing homes. It also involves environmental works, major voids and new build schemes.

West midlands: Highways work

  • Value: £20m
  • Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council is advertising for contractors to bid for a place on a three year highways framework. The work will include routine and emergency highway repairs, car park construction, paving and traffic calming.
  • Deadline: 2 July

Southampton: Multi-functional building

  • Value: £7.5m-£8.5m
  • Eastpoint Centre is looking for a contractor to build it a new conference and community building in Southampton. It requires a floor area of 3,900m2 over three storeys. Work includes associated infrastructure and external works.
