ISG's operation in Asia bags £40m-worth of new orders

By John Leitch

ISG Asia has secured £40m-worth of new work during the three months to the end of May.

Most of the project wins were across the retail, hospitality, leisure and education sectors.

ISG has been diversifying away from its core market which is the commercial office sector.

The recent contract wins include two fit out projects on the Marina Bay Sands (MBS) project in Singapore for a total of £20m.

In addition, in the UAE the group's new joint venture, Al Habtoor ISG, has secured its first opportunity in Abu Dhabi with the £8m refurbishment of the Sheikh Zayad national football stadium.

ISG Asia's order book has grown from £22m in December 2008 to £52m as at 31 May 2009.

David Lawther, ISG’s chief executive said: "The spread of sectors over which the work has been won demonstrates the success of the group's policy of diversifying our operations away from the commercial office sector. The increase in ISG Asia's secured order book gives it a good platform to build on for the year ahead."
